Kotobukiya CMB WIP 3: Seam lines + working with styrene
Posted on 10. Mar, 2010 by admin in Uncategorized
The third installment of how I built the kotobukiya chain mechanical base into a 1:144 Zeon hanger. This will be a nine part series with each video being close to ten minuets. I will take you though the important stages of this build. I also apologizes in advance for poor audio… Stage 3: Filling seam line, further use of cement and sanding plus first step in scratch building with styrene…

God bless akiba and Mandrake (I bought a LM 1:144 leo from the Shibuya store). My travel across Japan was a real eye opener. Is there any chance I can throw some money at you if you see it again?

@mokanaman I found that gem in a nameless shop in Akihabara. Held up pretty well for being 20 years old. Speaking of which I saw ANOTHER one in Mandrake Shibuya last month.

There is fewer noticeable seam lines on MG but you would have to do this if you wish to display the inner frame.

your glue technique is great, i haven’t tried it myself, because i mostly try to collect MG kits, and i think this one only works with HG :s

Thanks man, talking about tougher builds there are some hard core kits out there that I wouldn’t even pick up.
On another topic I would mind having a crack at the Qubeley Soft Vinyl Model. Were did you get it?

I like Tamiya cement as well.
Excellent video. EXTREMELY helpful for those of us just starting out on tougher builds.

Tamiya cement is fantastic, it just did a shit job of that one seam line and need some help with a little extra putty.

Seeing you work on filling in seam lines is very useful. I have a bottle of Tamiya’s cement! I bought it on sale at a local hobby store and now I’m regretting spending money on it since it’s a mediocre product.
I’m looking forward to the next installment of your WiP!
